When I was young I was a big fan of the TV show “Stargate“. For the people who don’t know Stargate, it’s a Sci-Fi show about people traveling to other planets. To get there they use the “Stargate” which was discovered in Egypt. It opens a wormhole to another Stargate on other planets. The gate on earth is located inside the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, which is in the real world the home of NORAD. For more information check out the Wikipedia entry.
I had to drive from San Francisco to Miami for a project. When I checked the route it brought me close to Colorado Springs and I decided to take a short detour towards the Cheyenne Mountain. Unfortunately, the road up the mountain is for authorized people only and to avoid trouble I decided not to drive up. I instead stopped at the parking lot of a military base to take some pictures of the mountain.
For me it was like a dream come true that day, even that for some people it won’t be anything special, because they live there. However, I am from a different country, heck even different continent and for me, it was amazing to see it with my own eyes.
The stop was rather short than long because I had to continue to drive towards Miami, FL. But things like this make my hard working life a little more enjoyable.
Is anyone here, who knows Stargate and is a fan as well? Have you been to Cheyenne Mountain? That would be interesting to know for me.
