Have you ever wondered what happens if a subway car, of the New York subway, reaches its end of life? It gets dumped into the ocean! No, this is not a cheap way to get rid of them without spending money. Actually there have to be spent money upfront to remove the wheels, interiors, windows, and doors.

After that, they get loaded onto a barge and after that, they get dumped in the Atlantic Ocean to become future reefs. The process is quite promising and there are already subway cars down there for over a decade, which grew a new life.
