Unbelievable but the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is coming to Los Angeles. Did you feel the disturbance of the force when this announcement was made?

The $1-Billion Project will find its home in Exposition Park in Downtown Los Angeles. Neighboring three other great museums, the California African American Museum, the California Science Center and the Natural History Museum.

The Collection and Education Programming will include:

  • Collection presentations
  • Temporary exhibitions
  • Daily film screenings
  • Public lectures
  • Hands-on workshops
  • School tours and programs
  • Classes for all ages
  • Campus-wide festivals

The parking garage under the museum will hold about 1800 cars and 6-7 acres of green space will be added to the area. The future location of the museum are currently the parking lots 2 and 3. Chicago was first rumored to be the site for the museum but the board pulled back and it was a head on head race between San Francisco and Los Angeles and we all know now who won.

Here just a few of the planned amenities of the museum:

  • Fine dining restaurant
  • State-of-the-art cinematic theaters
  • Museum store
  • Casual café
  • Lecture halls of various sizes
  • Digital classrooms
  • Video conferencing for guest lectures and workshops
  • A 4,200-square-foot drop-in library

More info on the website of the museum.

Groundbreaking for the museum will be later this year with a projected opening date in 2020. That is only 3 years time to build this amazing museum. We all know which date should be used for the opening: May the 4th!

Let’s hope everything goes well with the construction to avoid an Invasion by the Imperium.
