Do you remember when IHG introduced a new membership level mid last year? To qualify for this level you need 75 nights in a calendar year or 75.000 points. This is quite a lot if you don’t travel that frequent.

Now there is a new benefit, which might make it worth obtaining this status.

As a Spire Elite member you can request an upgrade to “Hertz 5 Star” membership level. This is the mid-tier of Hertz car rental. You start with Hertz Gold Plus Rewards, after that Hertz 5 Star and as top-tier Hertz President’s Circle. Click here for a detailed overview. The best benefit of this level is that you get a one car class upgrade if available. For all the other benefits visit the link above. To obtain Five Star level by renting cars, you would need to have 7 rentals in a year or spend $1,500.

To request your complimentary upgrade as a Spire Elite Member, visit this website. If you are not currently an Hertz customer, just sign up for an account. This award will expire on December 31, 2016, so be sure you request your award in time.

In addition to Five Star status, your Spire Elite membership also gives you access to special benefits including:

• Up to 35% off every car rental
• 1,500 IHG® Rewards Club points per rental when you book directly through IHG
• 500 additional IHG® Rewards Club points per rental day when you book directly through IHG

For some additional Hertz points make sure you check your final receipt. It often gives you some bonus points if you modify your profile with the requested changes.

Will you use this benefit and does this make the Spire Elite level more compelling to you?
