The Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory should be on your list when you visit Chinatown in San Francisco. It’s kinda of the beaten path, located in a small alley. The Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory is surrounded by apartment buildings and other local businesses. I was staying close by and used the chance to revisit San Francisco’s Chinatown.
You might think of a big operation, because the name contains the word “Factory”. It is not. The Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory started to make fortune cookies here in 1962 and supplies now not only San Francisco, but throughout the world. Inside you well see workers creating this fortune cookies. The procedure hasn’t changed a lot since the first started out. You probably will get a sample of the “fortune cookies” before they have the little paper strips inside. Mine was fresh and still warm. I snapped a photo really quick and ate it. This business churns out 20,000 handmade fortune cookies a day.
Want to have your very own special fortune cookie? For just $1 Dollar you can write a message on a piece of paper which will then be put in a fortune cookie right here and you get to take it home right away.
You also can buy a box of regular fortune cookies or adult x-rated cookies and take them home right away.
