The world’s tallest Ferris wheel is located in Las Vegas, NV. It looks like Ferris wheel are up and coming. Besides the famous “London Eye” there are newly built Ferris wheels in Seattle, WA and at the Hong Kong harbourfront. The “High Roller” in Las Vegas still holds the title of world’s tallest Ferris wheel with 550 ft (168 m). High Roller – what better name could you give a huge Ferris wheel in Las Vegas. The High Roller is part of the LINQ hotel and casino in Las Vegas and is located at the end of the open-air shopping and dining promenade.

I was able to ride the High Roller during my stay last year in Las Vegas. My room at the LINQ had two tickets for the High Roller included. Since I was traveling alone, it was the perfect opportunity to ride the Ferris wheel one time during the day and at night. The views are amazing from this observation wheel. I would recommend everyone to ride it during the day and at night. During the night the Ferris wheel itself becomes a light show with its over 2000 LED lights. It will change colors and the lights will “run” around the giant wheel.

The 28 40-person cabins are all climate controlled and some of them even have a minibar inside. There you can buy drinks during your 30-minute ride around the giant circumference. I visited Las Vegas in Spring 2015 and the cabins were both times almost empty. It will be more crowded during peak season.

Kids 12 and under always ride free. If you want a free ride, become a Diamond Total Rewards Member and you get two free tickets every month for a variety of shows and attractions (including the High Roller or the Eiffel Tower). Diamond is the second-highest level of the Caesars Entertainment Group, which LINQ and the High Roller are a part of. Check also my short introduction to Total Rewards.

To become a Diamond member you either spend a lot of money or think about signing up for Founders Card. With my referral link, you only pay $395 a year. If you sign up before the end of the month you only pay $295 for the first year.

If you are up for it, you can buy an annual pass now for the High Roller.

Below are two photos were taken from the Eiffel Tower’s observation deck. The High Roller is a focus point in the urban landscape of the Las Vegas Strip.

They should have built the observation wheel directly on the strip to have better views. Now you have to wait until you are about half-way up to see the famous strip. Only because the Ferris wheel is located on the backside of the hotel.
