This was one of the last available places during the time of my visit. A lot of the hotels in the city were already sold out or I had to move every couple of days.
Check-In
The lobby is fairly small and reminds me about a typical Motel lobby. Checking-In was quick and easy. My reservation was on file and after showing my credit card and ID to the staff, I got my keys. He explained to me the layout of the hotel and where my room is. Most of the rooms are accessible from the parking lot. My room was located inside a building and one of the very few rooms accessible from a central hallway. The downside is that you have to use your room key twice all the time. You need to get it into the building, no matter of the time of the day, and of course for your actual room itself.
King Jacuzzi Suite
My room was located on the ground level and the end of the building, right next to the indoor pool. This can be a bit of a downside if you expect quite nights. During my stay, a lot of families with their kids used the pool until late night, sometimes even past the opening hours of the pool. As you know kids can be sometimes very loud and I was able to hear it on some days until 11 p.m.
The room was called a “suite” but I wouldn’t call it a suite. It was a standard room with a jacuzzi, that’s all. The space between the bed and TV was very small. Also, the desk didn’t have a lot of space and you had to walk between the bed and TV to get there.
The jacuzzi is located between bathroom and bed. You can access it from either the bathroom through a separate door or directly from the room. I would recommend the bathroom side because here you have tiled floor instead of carpet.
The bathroom also has a shower and is pretty well sized.
Other than that the room was nothing special. It felt more like a motel room and not like a suite.
Public Areas
This hotel has actually two pools one indoor and the other one is outdoor. Both are heated and were frequented especially by the families and their kids staying here. Towels for the pool are available at the front desk and you shouldn’t take your room towels to the pool. The two pools have a whirlpool located next to them as well.
Next to the indoor pool is the small fitness center with workout equipment like a treadmill, stationary bike, and weights.
The hotel offers no dry-cleaning service but there is a guest laundry. If you are short on quarters, ask at the front desk for a change.
There’s not much else left as far as public areas. The parking lot is big and accommodates even bigger pick-up trucks and truck parking is available as well.
In case you have to use a computer, there is one located in the breakfast room. Speaking of which…
Dining
The breakfast area is located downstairs in the lobby and breakfast is complimentary here. If you bring friends, who are not staying at the hotel, they can enjoy the breakfast buffet for only $8.
The breakfast itself is nothing special. Regular continental breakfast as I am used to from smaller hotels like this. Seating is limited here and you should get up early if you want to get a table in the room. It can get crowded here.
Early birds will be happy here. There are some small items out to grab at 5 a.m. and the regular hot breakfast starts at 6 a.m.
Unfortunately, there are no other dining options available here except breakfast. Because of its central location on St. George Blvd, a lot of restaurants are located just one block down the street. Try George’s Corner or the Pizza Factory. Both have great food and the pizza place even delivers to the hotel.
Conclusion
The stay here didn’t last too long. I wanted to extend my stay for another week and I preferred not to move rooms, just so I don’t have to drag all my stuff somewhere else. I was able to extend my room one more night and got told by the lady at the front desk to come in the next morning and get the keys to the new room. My plan was to move everything in the morning if I could, so I don’t have to completely check out, put everything in my car, and check back in after work.
As lucky as I get sometimes, this time I didn’t. As mentioned they were able to extend me one more day in the same room but as I got into the office the next morning to get the keys I got a surprise. The lady from the day before extended my stay in the current room but forgot to extend my whole stay in a new room. Well normally this is not a big deal except the hotel is sold out for the rest of the week as it was in my case. In the end, I had to check out completely and move to a different hotel in town. I was aware of the situation that the hotels are filling up quickly in this area but I assumed that they set everything up for me when I tell them to extend my stay another week.
Some parents really surprised me when the hang out with their kids at the pool way past the opening hours. Normally I wouldn’t mind at all, but if the kids are loud and parents have no control over them at 11 p.m. it bothers me a little bit. My room was right next to the indoor pool and you could hear the kids scream. This hotel is definitely great for families and as a home base for day trips to different places like Zion National Park.
