When I was working in this area, I needed a good and nice hotel close by. I didn’t want to drive too much to work or from work. I checked some hotels and decided to stay at the Best Western Plus Hartford Lodge in Sutherlin, Oregon. I was driving here from Seattle and arrived after sunset.

It seemed like everybody was pulling out and trying to get a place to stay for the night. The hotel is close to the I-5. Because one-half of the driveway was blocked by barricades for remodeling, I had a hard time to pull in to the parking lot. Lazy people just parked right in front of the entrance to the hotel to check-in and blocked the whole driveway. It was a tight fit to maneuver my Pick-Up between the hotel and the parked car.

Once I made it through, I parked my truck and went inside to check-in.

Check-in was, as always a breeze, but also special here. Besides the usual Best Western Rewards points, you also get a free homemade cookie here. Everyone who checks in here gets a free cookie. No matter if you are Best Western Rewards Member or not. The Bakery is open from 3 p.m until midnight every day if you want more cookies.

All rooms are accessible only from the outside and the hotel has only 2 stories. Luckily they had an elevator here, but I decided to rather drag my bags up the staircase. It was a shorter way to walk, but heavier lifting instead.

The room was what I expected from a Best Western. It had a decent size, not too spacious but big enough to not feel squeezed in. After I unpacked my stuff, I did a short walk around the property. The hotel is nice and clean and the front desk staff is usually always good for a chat. The lobby area features a nice fireplace and some cozy seats. There is also a little market in the lobby if you need something to drink or eat.

My room had 2 Queen Beds and all the amenities you would think of: Refrigerator, Microwave, DVD-Player, Coffee Maker, Hair Dryer, and more.

I slept very well in the bed and noise from the Interstate was no issue either. It was pretty quiet here during the night.

To get your free breakfast, you need to walk into the lobby and tell them your name or room number and they give you a little form to fill out. Here comes the best and also unexpected part of this hotel. They have a chef here, who makes you an omelet, eggs, or pancakes as filled out on your order form. While you wait for your cooked to order breakfast, enjoy the breakfast buffet. The chef was usually pretty quick and brought my order always straight to my table.

There is plenty of parking available on the hotel grounds and right across the parking lot is the covered pool and guest laundry. From the hotel’s main entrance, the guest laundry is on the backside of the pool building. You need your room key to enter the pool and guest laundry.

The Business Center is located in the main building upstairs and is open daily from 6 a.m. until 12 a.m. (midnight). There is also a fitness center, which is located in Room 219. The fitness center is open daily from 7 a.m until 10 p.m.
