Everyone who visits San Francisco for leisure probably also visits one of the main attractions in the city – Lombard Street. Named as the crookedest Street in San Francisco, some even say the crookedest street in the world.

Lombard Street is a main tourist attraction in San Francisco and I feel kinda sorry for the people who live there. So many people standing around taking pictures and/or drive down the street and creating a traffic nightmare. I have to plea guilty and visited the street too and even drove it down with a Toyota Tundra. This big truck makes it down the turns without any issues or backing up.

At the bottom of Lombard Street, walk two blocks north along Leavenworth Street and at the intersection with Francisco Street you get another great vantage point.

Just recently I discovered another street, during my explorations in San Francisco, and did some research on it. This street is indeed steeper but has fewer turns than Lombard St.

This street is Vermont St. and has 7 sharp turns between 20th Street and 22nd Street near McKinley Square. Vermont St runs parallel to the U.S. 101 freeway

Jayms Ramirez measured the sinuosity of Lombard and Vermont streets and found that Vermont St is indeed more crooked, with a sinuosity of 1.56 versus 1.2 for Lombard Street.
