Yesterday I got the chance to attend the opening of the Centurion Lounge at MIA before it opened up to the public. The lounge will open Thursday to the public and can then be enjoyed by all American Express cardholders for a fee of 50 USD and as a complimentary benefit for Platinum Card Members.

This is the nicest lounge of all the Centurion Lounges I have visited. But I have only been to the Las Vegas and San Francisco Lounge, unfortunately. This Centurion Lounge offers a great view out on to the tarmac and runway. You can watch the planes taking off right in front of you. The glass front stretches along the whole lounge. This makes Miami be the fifth lounge in the Centurion Lounge Network.

Also the Seattle Centurion Studio is supposed to open in the next couple of weeks.

The lounge is located inside the North Terminal between Gates D14 and D15. Take the elevator up to the 4th floor and you are there. Right at the entrance, you will find, as usual, the Member Service and Check-In Counter.

Passed the counter you will have Spa to your left. I got a hand massage and it was really awesome. You really should try it out. During a second visit, I was able to get the back massage and this was very relaxing as well. It prepares you for long flights. Further down to your left along the glass front and passed the restrooms you will see the business area with PC’s and a printer, a big table to sit down and work. Next to it on the wall is a flight board.

On the other side of the lounge, directly across from here, you have the bar and food area. The bites are prepared by James Beard award-winning Chef Michelle Bernstein and beverages by renowned Mixologist Jim Meehan.

Along the big glass front will be seating spaces. For this event, we had DJ Dany Daze on-site for good vibes.

The event was amazing and I was so happy to be part of it, even that work kept me busy this evening.

Emmy Rossum attended the event as one of the special guests. Most of you probably know her as Laura Chapman from the movie “The Day After Tomorrow”.

Traveling with kids? No problem! There is a sound-proof play area especially for children. This is great for families with small kids.

There is a “secret” seating area at this lounge. It’s great if the main lounge is very crowded or if you try to find a more secluded spot. There are two secret seating areas, one to the right when you approach the Member Services Desk and one to the left, past the shower facility. The seating area past the showers is bigger and wraps around the skylight in the terminal. This area has a coffee machine and a bigger variety in seating possibilities.

Remember the Centurion Studio in Seattle will also open up soon – stay tuned.
