The Venetian Pool is one of a kind pool and one of the biggest tourist attractions in Coral Gables, just minutes from Downtown Miami. The pool was created from a coral rock quarry and holds 820,000 gallons of water. Yes, that’s a lot of water for a swimming pool. The pool is fed with spring water from an underground aquifer and gets drained and refilled daily during the spring and summer months.
But it’s not just a gigantic pool. There are two historic lookout towers, two waterfalls, cave-like grottos, palm trees, and a bridge. The Venetian Pool opened in 1924 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It’s the only pool on the register. During my first visit to the pool, they were holding their annual dog swim day.
A few weeks back I was asked by a team member from Rove.me to use one of my photos of the Venetian Pool, I posted on Flickr, in one of their posts about the location.
If you are planning to visit the Venetian Pool, you should stop by at the Biltmore Hotel as well. You can take a free tour of the hotel as well.
