If you don’t know what the Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day is, you better don’t have any plans this coming Saturday, September 22, 2018.

Museums and cultural institutions across the country provide free entrance if you show a Museum Day Pass. Not every museum in the country is participating, but the list is very long. Your Museum Day Ticket will give you and one guest access to the selected hotel of your choosing. But choose wisely, once you registered for a museum to get your ticket, you can’t take it back.

How do you get your free ticket?

  • Head to the Museum Day website and select a museum. Maybe you know already which museum you would like to visit and you can search on the website if it participates. Otherwise, you can browse participating museums with your zip code, state or type.
  • After you found your ticket, click on the “Get A Ticket” button and fill in your email address. Your ticket will be emailed to you. Print it and show it at the museum you selected on Saturday, September 22, 2018.
Some Museums allow showing a “digital ticket”, basically just your email with the ticket.
  • The ticket will be only valid on that day and is good for you and one guest.

Museum Day is an annual celebration of boundless curiosity hosted by Smithsonian magazine. Unfortunately, I never was able to use this amazing chance as I always had other plans on that day.

Additional Tip:

It goes without saying that you should use this ticket on a museum which would charge otherwise a high entrance fee, to get the best deal from this offer.

Where will you go?
