It’s amazing what you can find by browsing the web. I found a new travel gadget, which sounds pretty cool if you need a GPS quiet often. Carloudy is the next-gen Head-Up display. I have driven BMW’s and Mercedes-Benz cars with a Head-Up Display and this takes navigating to a whole new level.
Now you can upgrade your car, no matter what year and model, with a Head-Up display called Carloudy.
All you need is a phone (iPhone 4s or later and Android 4.4+) and Google Maps. Carloudy will project a 6-inch semi-transparent display on your windshield and it adjusts itself to the surrounding brightness level.
Carloudy is controlled by voice and can guide you through traffic, find the nearest parking, gas station and displays the speed limit right on your windshield. Heck it even tells you the perfect time for a car wash based on local weather forecast.
Carloudy is ultra-portable (6.57 in x 5.16 in x 0.39 in) and weighs only 0.55 lbs. You can use it in multiple cars. All you have to do is move your device to the new car and adhere a 6″ x 6″ semi-transparent plastic sheet to your windshield. It’s adhered by static rather than glue, which makes it reusable and easy to remove and re-use. The device itself gets fixed to the dashboard with self-adhesive velcro.
The display can be configured to your liking and only show what you really wan to see. Future no-cost software updates will provide even more functionality.

In my opinion, this is the ultimate must-have for frequent car renters. Due to the slim design it’s easy to take with you and a very efficient gadget navigating new cities and the country side. I am excited about this device and hope it becomes as real as it gets presented. I was using the Garmin Head-Up Display for a while and liked it, but it was only limited to Garmin Apps. Google Maps gives you pretty much a global navigation system. I also hope they give us an API for third-party developers to enhance the functionality even more. No, I am not thinking about Twitter and Facebook Messages, also Carloudy thinks this things can wait, more like other useful information during the drive or for on the track.
