Just four days ago, the Washington Heritage GeoTour started. Most of the caches didn’t get published until two days ago on June 3rd, 2016. This tour consists of 25 caches hidden throughout Washington State. The Washington State Historical Society initiated this GeoTour to celebrate its 125 year anniversary on October 8, 2016.  You have until October 3rd at 5 p.m. to bring in your passport.

geoadventureheaderHere the official description:

Commemorating the Washington State Historical Society’s 125 years in 2016, this geocaching tour around the great state of Washington features 25 locations in 5 separate regions. Each location has a unique history that has benefited from the Washington State Historical Society’s Heritage Capital Projects grant program.

Find any 5 caches to receive a unique Pathtag. There are five different Pathtags, one for every region. Make sure you collect them all. To get the different Pathtags you have to find all 5 geocaches in this region.

The full set of rules and the passport download link can be found on the Washington State Historical Society Homepage. Make sure you print your passport and have it with you to stamp it.

If you are lucky enough and can find all 25 caches then bring or mail in your passport to be entered for the grand prize drawing during the celebration on October 8th.

The celebration event is held at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be present to win the grand prize. You only have to make sure you submit your passport before the deadline on October 3, 2016.

The grand prize is a limited edition blanked showing the expedition route from Lewis and Clark. This collector’s edition blanket is produced by Pendleton Woolen Mills. There are only 1805 pieces available.

I created a list of all 25 caches which can be viewed and downloaded from Geocaching.com. This makes it easier to import the caches in your favorite GPS device. Have fun on your adventure.

My adventure started very unlucky, out of three caches I could only log one. The other two seem to be already missing. I even met another geocacher at my third site and we both had no luck locating the cache. It probably is just hidden to well for us 😉
