Whistler Blackcomb is one of the nicest ski resorts in Canada. It’s located about 1,5 hours north of Vancouver, BC. If you drive up from Vancouver, you will have a beautiful drive along the coast and valley which leads up to Whistler Village.
Once you are there, you will have tons of options for where to stay, dine or shop. There is something for everybody. If you are there skiing in the wintertime, you can take Whistler Village Gondola up to Whistler. There are many different runs from easy to hard. The lift ticket and pass are about 96$ a day and it is good for one ride up and down with the Whistler Village Gondola. Once on top, you can use all other lifts for free with your pass.
If you want you can take the Peak2Peak gondola, which is the longest unsupported gondola system on the globe. The weight of the gondolas is supported by two 56mm cables and pulled by a 46mm center cable.
If It’s your first time, there make sure you take the glass bottom gondola. These are the gray gondolas. They have in the center a glass bottom where you can enjoy the view directly from above. There are restaurants and shops at both ends of the Peak2Peak gondola. Take the opportunity to go there and relax and enjoy.
In the summertime, Whistler Blackcomb transforms into an amazing playground for mountain bikers. I never had the chance to visit during summertime, but I will try to get back there during the summertime.
Overall, it’s a great area for the whole family. Even if you don’t ski, you can take the gondola up, enjoy the view and dine. Unfortunately, everything is a little expensive there, but that’s about all the negative things what I can say so far.
