Marriott is bringing back personal ambassadors to Ambassador Elite members. These ambassadors will reach out to their assigned ambassador elites in June to get to know them better. This change was announced by Marriott already in November 2022. A little while back, they also sent out an email, where you could update your profile to help your future ambassador to get to know you better.

Ambassadors help you to make the best out of your trip. They will get to know you and help plan your trips and accommodation accordingly, of course in relation to Marriott and its properties.

Ambassador Requirements

To get one of these ambassadors assigned to you, you must be one of the most loyal customers of Marriott. This requires you to spend 100 or more nights a year at Marriott and additionally spend at least $23.000 per year. The next year, the same requirements start from nothing again, if Marriott doesn’t decide to increase them as they just did recently. Until this year, it was enough to stay 100 nights and only spend $20k with Marriott.

Ambassador Team

Marriott already had personal ambassadors in the past but then cut them and only provided a generic ambassador team. You were able to reach out to the ambassador team via phone or email, but you never got the same person. Whoever was available responded and helped you out.

I have been living in hotels for almost 1.5 decades now and have been an Ambassador Elite for a few years. Unfortunately, the service was never anything I could really make use of or where they could help me out. Sometimes, they tell me to just google stuff when I had a request, where the name Marriott itself would have helped out. I mean come on guys; I don’t need an ambassador team to tell me that I can google stuff.

Personal Ambassador

If you already had a personal ambassador assigned to you before COVID and Marriott cut them, you can request to get matched with the same ambassador again. Just contact your the ambassador service and they will see what they can do. There could be many reasons that it doesn’t work. Maybe this person already has too many elites assigned or is not working for Marriott anymore. It never hurts to ask if you were happy with your previous ambassador.

Conclusion

I am curious who my personal ambassador will be and how this service has evolved from what it was before. I am also kind of interested in what services they can provide and actually help out with. Because most of the time, I hear it’s up to the property. But that means I could request it myself and hope for the best. I wish Marriott Ambassadors had more pull and are kind of able to “force” a property to certain benefits.
