I had some extra time to spare at DCA while I was waiting for my flight to Charlotte to continue on to Germany. After I got through security, I checked in my American Airlines app if there is an American Airlines Admirals Club in DCA. To my surprise, there are three Admiral Clubs at DCA. One at the beginning of the following concourses.

I decided to pick the one closest to my departure gate, which was the one at Concourse D. Later, I found out on American’s website, that the one at Concourse E is one of the new and reimagined lounges. I completely forgot that I reported about American Airlines remodeling their lounges over 6 months ago. The lounge in Concourse E was one of the first ones to open.

Location

The Admirals Club in Concourse D is easy to reach. Just follow the signs for D gates and at the beginning of the concourse, you will see the two elevators and the access to the staircase on your left. There is also an Admirals Club logo next to the elevator.

Admirals Club Reagan National Terminal 2 (DCA)

This is one of the smaller Admirals Clubs in American’s network. You can take either the elevator or the stairs upstairs to the check-in counter.

Once checked in, you enter the main lounge area. Here is also where they have the food buffet. You get the typical light snacks American serves at all their Admirals Club locations. The only thing missing in this lounge is the fancy coffee machine you usually find. Here you only find dispensers for coffee and hot water to make tea.

Close to the food area is also the bar where you get your drinks. A self-serve soda dispenser is also missing here. There is plenty of seating all over the lounge. Everything from chairs with small swing tables to just comfortable chairs and dining tables near the bar are available here. Highchairs are in front of the bar. The large floor-to-ceiling windows offer a great view of the tarmac and Washington D.C. in the distance.

The best spot to hang out is the business center. It is hidden and that’s why it was pretty quiet there during my visit. Just follow the long hallway at the back of the lounge to the restrooms and continue the hallway all the way to the end. Around the corner is the business center with a few cubicles and nice office chairs as well as windows providing an even better view of the tarmac and D.C. Only downside here is that there is a door to an office or something which the staff uses constantly. They just ran back and forward here. But other than that, it is no big deal, and it is a very quiet location.

A conference room with eight seats is also available to be booked if needed.

Conclusion

The American Airlines Admirals Club here at DCA is small but nice. I was happy to be able to enjoy it on my trip. It definitely gave me a place to settle and get some work on my computer done before I had to board my flight. The club lounge is a little outdated but still a great place.
