I discovered this hotel on one of the many road trips I did along the Oregon Coast. I was working just about 2 hours inland and decided to spend my weekend on the coast. Throughout the week I checked the hotel for availability and booked my weekend getaway.
On Friday after work, I started my drive to the coast and to the hotel. The check-in area in front of the hotel was full so I decided to drive up to the parking lot because I didn’t want to block the driveway. There is also a parking spot right in front of the main entrance with a sign “10-minute parking for registration only”. It seems there are a lot of people coming here who can’t read and used it as an overnight parking spot.

Meanwhile, I used the sky bridge from the parking lot to the hotel and took the elevator down to the registration desk. Check-In here was as usual quick and easy and the honored my membership level with Best Western.
Sky Bridge to the Hotel
After I got my room key, I walked back to my car to get my luggage and afterward finding my room. When I crossed the sky bridge again, I saw that some lazy people completely blocked the whole driveway and nobody could go in or out anymore from the hotel. I hate people like this and most of the time they don’t have disabilities where they would need to do that.
The Room
I booked a room with a beach view and you really should do that too. It’s worth it the extra dollars. The other rooms only face a boring hillside, which is not very scenic and enjoyable at all. However, these rooms are a bit cheaper.
Also, try to get a room as far as possible on the south side of the hotel to get a good view of the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. The lighthouse is worth a trip.
The room was quite spacious and I had a good view of the beach, ocean, and lighthouse even tho it was not on the highest floor. I was only on the 4th floor.

One thing you won’t find in your room is an A/C Unit. There is only a heater in your room but if you want “A/C”, just open the doors to your little balcony.
All rooms, no matter ocean or hillside feature a little balcony. You can’t really sit outside but you can open your door and get a nice fresh ocean breeze.

The Hotel
From the hallway with the elevators, you get great views of the ocean, beach, and lighthouse as well. The even put up some comfy chairs to sit in and enjoy the view. From both locations, the elevator hallway and ocean-view rooms, you get a great view of the sunset.
Elevator Hallway
The lobby has a nice little fireplace with a lot of sitting options around it and next to the front desk is the small “business center” with 3 computers and printers for you to use.

At the same level is also the fitness center, which is a bit small but you can still do your workout here.
Fitness Center
The indoor pool and jacuzzi is on the very south end of the hotel and is located on the same level as the lobby. The pool is fantastic and the pool building has a lot of space to lay down around the pool as well.

Downstairs are the meeting rooms, Rookie’s Sports Bar, and the Starfish Grill. See opening times for the dining details at the bottom of the page. Starfish Grill is also your breakfast location in this hotel. The Starfish Grill is spread over 1.5 levels. Speaking the inside half is raised to get also some view of the ocean and outside. areas. I recommend you to sit along the glass wall if you can get a table there. These are the best views at the restaurant but smaller tables.

There is an outside patio with tables and chairs and this is a great spot to enjoy a drink or meal during a nice and warm summer day.

Beach Access
The beach is just a short walk away from the hotel. You will cross a little road and then have to walk some wooden boards to get over a small water puddle which is, unfortunately, raw sewage, according to a sign. This is also the reason why they are building the pump station next to the street. You will walk by the job site on your way to the beach.
Raw Sewage
Keep walking on the beach out to the ocean and you get away from this spill. It’s still quite a stretch to get to the oceanfront of the beach. Enjoy nice walks along here all day long.
