The American Express Platinum Card is a card you should have in your wallet. I know the price of $550/year is high but if you travel a lot, this is absolutely worth it. Besides all the insurances, Gold Status with Hilton and SPG, Global Entry or TSA PreCheck Fee Credit, you also get access to the Global Lounge Collection.

Best known lounges in this collection are no doubt American Express own Centurion Lounges, which are awesome. However, you get access to other lounges beside your complimentary Priority Pass Select membership.

The Global Lounge Collection features lounges like Delta Skyclubs, Airspace Lounges and many more. New in the collection is the access to Lufthansa Business and Senator Lounges at the Munich Airport in Germany. Sadly the new partnership with Lufthansa lets you only use the lounges at the Munich Airport and not at other major Lufthansa hubs like Frankfurt Airport. For some reason, Lufthansa doesn’t show on their list (image above). Maybe because you only get access to lounges at one specific airport.

In my case, this isn’t too bad, because I am usually going to Munich once a year and now I can check off a new lounge at this airport. I am very excited about the lounges in the new satellite building which opened not too long ago. I participated in one of their many test days before the final opening of the satellite building to the public.

To access the Lufthansa Business or Senator Lounges you need your Amex Platinum card, Government issued ID and boarding pass for same day travel with Lufthansa, SWISS, or Austrian Airlines. You have to show a Business Class boarding pass to access the Senator Lounge.

So for your next trip check the American Express website to see to which lounges you can gain access on your next trip. I wish American Express would include a search for these lounges in their Amex Mobile app.

Did you know that you can access all these lounges?
