Reading Time: 3 minutes
A new way of earning Delta SkyMiles just emerged. A lot of coffee junkies will be super happy. Now you can earn more than just Starbucks Stars when shopping at Starbucks. The money you spend at the biggest coffeehouse company in the world will earn you valuable Delta SkyMiles.
If you are reading this, I am sure you have been to Starbucks before and are maybe even a regular. If you are also a frequent flier with Delta Airlines, this can definitely help increase your mileage account for your next trip. However, if you don’t earn SkyMiles any other way, like by flying with the airline or holding the co-branded credit card, you will have to shell out a lot of money to get enough miles for a free flight. Speaking about earning Delta SkyMiles, you can also earn SkyMiles by riding with Lyft.
What’s the catch? Actually, there is none. All you need to do is link your Delta SkyMiles account with your Starbucks rewards account and you will earn one mile per Dollar spent at Starbucks. Purchases of gift cards, Starbucks card reloads, alcoholic beverages as well as tips and fees are excluded from earning you miles.
All you need is a Starbucks Rewards account and a Delta SkyMiles account. If you don’t have one or the other, you can sign up right now and start earning Starbucks Stars and Delta SkyMiles. After you have accounts with both programes go here to link your accounts.
Linking of the accounts is straight forward. It takes only a minute if you have all your account information handy.
Once linked, just keep shopping at Starbucks and either pay with your linked payment method in the app or scan your Starbucks card during checkout and pay with debit or with credit card or cash.
It can take up to ten business days after your Starbucks purchase bevor the miles show up in your Delta account. Be patient. I would note the dates of your first purchases and keep the receipts to make sure you actually get the miles. If not, you have the receipts to proof the purchase which helped me out recently while there was an issue with crediting miles to my American Airlines account after fueling with Shell Fuel Rewards.

Bonus Offer
If you link your accounts before 12/31/2022 you earn 150 Stars and 500 miles. The current partnership between Starbucks and Delta has no expiration date. However, the offer just mentioned is only valid until the end of the year. If you link your accounts next year, you will miss this bonus.
Additionally, you will earn double Stars on days when you are scheduled to travel with Delta. You won’t earn double miles.
Expiration
The expiration date of both programs applies to the earned Stars and SkyMiles. Starbucks Stars will expire six months after you earn them, and Delta SkyMiles never expire.
Conclusion
Is it worth signing up? Definitely, as it doesn’t cost you a thing and you only gain. I have flown with Delta 2 times in the last 3 years, but I still signed up to increase my milage balance. Linking is easy and quick and why throwing away valuable miles. People who fly regularly on Delta will be super excited about this promotion.
Do not forget that Delta also has a 20-minute baggage guarantee. If you don’t receive your bags within 20 minutes after you arrive at your destination you can get additional SkyMiles.
