Booking & Stay Details
I stayed at the hotel a few times in September and October and got to check out the place. Until I checked in, I didn’t know that the hotel is celebrating its first year since opening. The hotel opened its doors in June 2023.
Location
The Hyatt Place Newark / Silicon Valley is conveniently located next to I-880 in Newark, CA. From the hotel it is only 10 mintues to the Tesla Factory in Fremont. The hotel sits pretty much in the middle between the San Jose and Oakland airport with a drive time of about 30 minutes.

There are lots of restaurants and other hotels in the area. The Newpark Mall and a Costco are only a few minutes away from the hotel.
Parking
Parking is complimentary for hotel guests. The hotel offers multiple EV charging parking spots. Unfortunately, they don’t enforce the spots enough. I have seen non-EVs parking in these spots and also EVs which just parked there because it is front row parking but not actually charging. This should be enforced a little bit better.
The parking lot in front of the hotel has smaller parking spots which are all labeled compact. There is more parking behind the hotel with bigger spots. Unfortunately, there is no back entrance only side entrances and the main entrance at the front of the hotel.
Shuttle Service
No shuttle service proviede.
Check-In
My check in was super quick and easy every time I checked in. After the usual ID verification i was able to get my room keys as well as my parking pass for the complimentary parking lot.

The elevators are just a few steps from the front desk and keys are needed to activate the elevator.
Check-In: 3 p.m.
Check-Out: 11 a.m.
1 King Bed Room (Room )
The room is a typical Hyatt Place room. You get a well-sized room with lots of space. The room has hardwood flooring.
The King-sized bed sits against the wall with a nightstand on either side of it. Next to the bed, towards the interior of the room, is a large L-shaped sofa bed.
Opposite the bed and sofa is a working desk with chair and a wall-mounted TV. This place comes also with one of the best features of Hyatt – Chromecast integration. It lets you stream movies and shows straight from your device to the TV. Underneath the desk is a small refrigerator.
The window of the room overlooked the back parking lot of the property and you could also see the car dealership next door. This place won’t be on your list for the views. The closet in the corner, next to the window holds a safe as well as an iron and ironing board.
The bathroom is at the very front of the room and is very spacious. It comes with a walk-in shower and a vanity with a single sink.
Overall it is a very functional room and I had no issues. The only thing would be a better chair for the desk.
Public Areas & Amenities
Lobby
The lobby is mainly made up of the dining area for breakfast and the seating area for the Placery, the on-site restaurant. There is also a business center.
Business Center
There is a small business center near the elevators with two workstations and a printer. Use is complimentary.
Fitness Center
The fitness center is located at the end of the main hallway of the hotel. You need your room key to enter and it has a pretty good workout selection.
Pool
The pool at the Hyatt Place Newark / Silicon Valley is indoors and next to the fitness center. It has its own entrance and you will also need your room key to enter.
Guest Laundry
No guest laundry on site but they offer dry cleaning/laundry service. The papers can be obtained from the front desk. The processing time is slower as usually. When you turn in your laundry early in the morning, you will get it back the next day. Usually it is a same day turn around time. Make sure to keep this in mind.
Housekeeping
Housekeeping is offered daily.
Dining
Breakfast
Breakfast is the usual Hyatt Place breakfast spread. Nothing extra ordinary. The eggs are the usual eggs you see at Hyatt Places, which could be improved. The offerings are decent but they don’t change throughout the weeks. If you stay here long-term, be ready to have the same stuff over and over.
I wish the breakfast would start a bit earlier as it is a little bit late for me at 6:30 a.m. Make sure you get to the breakfast early. The staff has a hard time keeping up with demand. Some food items run out or take a while to replenish. You might not be able to get a full set of utensils anymore if you get there to late.
The Placery
This is the on-site restaurant/bar. It is located across from the front desk. It comes with a small bar and a few seats throughout the space.
The menu selection is decent but there are good restaurants not to far from the hotel as well.
Grab & Go Market
Right at the front desk is a small grab and go market with snacks, sodas, beers and other little things you want to grab for to go.
Conclusion
My stay at the Hyatt Place Newark / Silicon Valley was great. As I was out and about most of the time, it was the perfect place to settle at night and relax. As mentioned, I wish Hyatt Place hotels would have a better breakfast. This is not just this hotel but all Hyatt Places.
The whole staff was always super friendly and greeted me when walking by them. I really loved the warm and welcoming feeling here.
