Booking & Stay Details

I was flying from Seattle to Washington D.C. with a layover in Dallas/Fort Worth. Before I even boarded my flight in Seattle, I got the notification that my connecting flight got cancelled. Rather to deal with a long line at the counter in DFW, I decided to book a hotel up front while waiting to board my flight to DFW.

The Element brand of Marriott is a long-term stay property, but I booked it even for my one-night stay as I had a Chase offer to go along with it and earn some cashback.

This wasn’t the first time I had to stay overnight because of flight delays and cancelations. I previously also stayed at the Hyatt Regency DFW Airport and the TownePlace Suites Dallas DFW Airport North/Irving.

Location

The Element Dallas Fort Worth Airport North is about a 15-minute drive from the airport, depending on your location. The hotel sits on its own in a business park, while most other airport hotels in the area are more clustered. There are a bunch of restaurants around the hotel, most of them within walking distance.

Parking

There are plenty of parking spaces available around the hotel building. Parking at the hotel is complimentary for overnight guests. Most airport hotels charge you for parking, even when you are a staying guest, this is a great benefit here.

Shuttle Service

The hotel offers a complimentary airport shuttle. However, the signage at DFW is horrible and it took me a while to find the courtesy van pickup location. As I called the hotel then, they told me to go to yet another pick-up location at the same terminal. It was late at night, and I asked if they would just pick me up where I was, as it is an official pick-up spot and they agreed. After a while of waiting the shuttle arrived and I was on my way to the hotel.

Check-In

Check-in was straight forward. ID check and swiping my credit card and after that I got my room keys. The agent checking me in also provided a few additional information about the hotel like breakfast hours.

Front Desk

The elevators are just around the corner of the front desk, at the end of the hallway.

Check-In: 3 p.m.
Check-Out: 12 p.m.

1  Bedroom Suite (Room 437)

As you enter the room you enter the dining area of the suite. The kitchen comes with a microwave, stovetop, sink, dishwasher, full-sized refrigerator and all the dishes, pans, plates, and utensils you need to prepare and eat your food.

The dining table is stored underneath the cabinets to your right when you enter the room. It unfolds to give you more space.

Next to the dining area is a beautiful work desk with a tampered glass top. It comes with a nice comfy office chair. This setup separates the dining area from the living area. The living area is comparatively small. It comes with an L-shaped sofa and cocktail table which are opposite a wall mounted TV.

Living Room Area

The bedroom is accessed straight from the dining area and comes with a sliding door. Inside is a King-sized bed with nightstands on either side. Power outlets are only available on one side of the bed. Opposite the bed is a wall-mounted large TV and next to it is a closet with drawers at the bottom. The closet holds the iron, ironing board, in-room safe and a suitcase stand.

The bathroom entrance is located just past the cabinets on your right when you enter the room. The bathroom space is well-sized for the suite and comes with a vanity with a single sink and a walk-in shower with a glass door.

The window in the bedroom and the living area overlook the front of the building. The view is nothing exceptional though.

Public Areas & Amenities

Lobby

The lobby is very spacious and with the large floor to ceiling windows, also very bright. Lots of light can shine into the lobby area. Most of the lobby area is comprised of comfortable seating with a TV at one end of it. The other main part of the lobby is the dining desks for breakfast.

Business Center

The business center is located near the breakfast buffet and the entryway to the meeting rooms. It comes with two workstations and a printer which are complimentary to use.

Fitness Center

The fitness center is located near the elevators. You need your room key to enter it. Inside you will find a fairly good selection of workout equipment. The glass front of the fitness center overlooks the lobby area. This design is identical to the Element in Miami I used to stay a lot.

Pool & Patio Space

The hotel offers a heated outdoor pool. It’s located at the back of the hotel. To enter the pool area, you need your room key. Inside you find a bunch of pool chaise loungers to relax and soak up the Texas sun.

Immediately outside of the pool area is a patio space with lots of seating options and two BBQ grills.

Guest Laundry

The Element Dallas Fort Worth Airport North offers a dry-cleaning service. I found my laundry bag and paper form in one of the drawers in the bedroom closet compared to where it usually is – attached to one of the hangers in the closet.

Housekeeping

Housekeeping is offered daily but I only stayed for one night.

Dining

Breakfast

The breakfast buffet was pretty good. It is definitely nothing special, but it will get you started. You get the basic continental breakfast as you would expect. The staff was pretty good replenishing items on the buffet. However, nobody seemed to notice that one half of the toaster only toasts your bread on one side and not the other. The other half of the toaster works fine.

Hours:
Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
Saturday-Sunday 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.

Convenience Store

Behind the front desk is a convenience store where you can buy snacks and drinks 24/7. Besides that, they also carry some other small essentials you might need for your trip.

Conclusion

Overall, it was a particularly good stay at the Element Dallas Fort Worth Airport North and I slept well. I was scheduled to leave early for the airport to get to my new connecting flight, which got delayed again until the afternoon and then eventually cancelled. Luckily, I rebooked myself on a different flight before that even happened, otherwise I would have probably been stranded for another night at DFW.
