Just a few days ago I had a longer layover in Phoenix and decided to make use of their Priority Pass lounge again. I have been here a few times before but my last time was like almost 1.5 years back.

They certainly improved a little bit, but not much. As the lounge used to be closed in the afternoon for everyone except British Airways passengers, they now added an additional room so Priority Pass, Lounge Key, and others eligible customers could still enter. I give them credit for that.

Now the part of the lounge is just a big room with a small snack bar and a bar counter to order drinks. Power outlets are scares as in the old part of the lounge. The food/snacks are on the lower end of what I would expect.

But these are not even the bad news.

Soon Priority Pass members won’t have a lounge to go to anymore in PHX. I guess a bad lounge is better than no lounge at all. Maybe? Either way, The Club PHX will leave the Priority Pass program on December 1, 2018. After that, you won’t be able to access it anymore as a Priority Pass member and you won’t have any alternative. This sucks!

On the other side, you won’t miss a lot of service and amenities as there were barely any. On the other side, it was still nice to sit down in a quiet area of the airport.

It seems, as more people get Priority Pass, as harder it is to gain access to lounges or lounges even leave the program completely. To bad, as it would make sense to have at least a national lounge program, to support travelers. Of course, you can always buy a club membership with your airline, but there is no guarantee that they will have a lounge in every airport.
