Hong Kong is known for its impressive laser and light show which plays to music. It’s called “A Symphony of Lights” More than 40 buildings are included in this show on both sides of the harbor. The show is recognized as one of the world’s most spectacular light shows.
The show got an update in December 2017 and features now even more exciting elements in the myriad of searchlights, lasers, LED screens and lighting working in a symphony and a new soundtrack, performed by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
You can listen to the show’s music at the harbourfront areas near Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui or near Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai every night at 8 p.m. Alternatively you can download the mobile app and tune in to the music from wherever you are. This is helpful if you take a harbor cruise to watch the show.
How to get there:
The best way to get there is by MTR. You can either exit at Tsim Sha Tsui or East Tsim Sha Tsui station, whichever suits you best. After exiting the MTR just look for markers pointing to the harbor front, follow the signs for the “Space Museum” or Star Ferry Pier. Use the MTR-Planer to find the best routes and a timetable for the MTR
The show starts at 8pm and lasts about 15 minutes. Try to get there early. I recommend a minimum of 30 minutes earlier, to get a good spot at the front of the observation deck.
After the show, you can walk along the harbor front and enjoy the breathtaking view of Hong Kong by night. This is the so-called “Avenue of Stars”
