Booking & Stay Details

For full disclosure, the hotel was booked and paid for by another company who invited me to a show in Germany but unrelated to travel or the hotel. I paid for one extra night and the parking fees for the whole stay.

Even though this hotel is in Germany, and it is not a major chain hotel, it accepts credit cards just fine for payment. Yes, electronic payment systems are a bit of a hassle in Germany. You better get cash when you are in Germany.

Location

The hotel Moosburger Hof is located near the town center of the city Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm in Bavaria, Germany. From Munich International Airport it will take you about 30 minutes by car to get to and from the hotel. With no traffic you can drive to Munich in about 45 minutes by car.

The hotel is also located close to the main train station in the small town of Pfaffenhofen. From here you can take a train to Munich, Ingolstadt, Nuremberg and everywhere else in Germany. It is a quick train trip from Pfaffenhofen to Munich as the Munich Metro (S-Bahn) stops in Pfaffenhofen. That way you have multiple connections throughout the day to get in and out of Munich.

Parking

The hotel comes with a multi-level underground parking facility for which you have to pay extra. The driveway and turns down into the garage are very tight and it is also a one-way street controlled with traffic lights.

Underground Parking Garage

The string you see hanging from the ceiling in the photo above is the switch to open the garage. You drive up to it and pull on it and it will open up the garage door and switching the traffic light for the opposite traffic so nobody can enter while you exit.

Only from the upper floor of the two floors of the underground parking garage can you access the elevator. The lower level of the garage only has stairs.

Parking was €13/night during my stay.

Shuttle Service

No shuttle service offered.

Check-In

Check-In was painless. I drove up to the entrance of the parking garage and rang the call button. I let the front desk know that I had a reservation, and they remotely opened the door to the garage and shortly thereafter the light turned green to drive in. After parking, I walked upstairs to the front desk, which you can’t miss.

Checking in was quick and easy. The hotel knew that I and a bunch of other people were coming for an event in a nearby city and had everything already set up for us. A few minutes later I got my room keys and to my surprise they were key cards not old-school physical keys. Many boutique hotels in Germany still use regular physical metal keys for the locks on the guest rooms.

Doppelzimmer – Double Bedroom (Room 208)

In Germany beds are smaller than in the US. I had a double bedroom which consisted of two single beds which were pushed together. It’s different from a Queen or King-sized bed as you always have the crack in the middle between the two beds. Even though the beds were on the smaller side, they were comfy to sleep in.

Besides the bed there were also two sofa chairs in the room. Opposite the bed was a small desk with another chair. Besides the desk there was a suitcase stand and a small refrigerator hidden in a piece of furniture.

The TV was mounted high on the wall opposite the bed but was a bit too small from what I am used to. I never used the TV to watch anything as I was always out and about to either work or explore.

As you enter the room there was a closet on one side and the other side had the door to the bathroom. The bathroom was a little bit on the smaller size, but it never felt too small or cramped. There was plenty of space for everything. Inside is a vanity with a single sink and large wall-mounted mirror. The walk-in shower was a fairly decent size, and the water was nice and hot. Inside the bathroom there was also a switch to adjust the volume. At first, I didn’t know what it was for but when the TV is on you can adjust the volume of the speakers in the bathroom and hear what’s on TV. That’s pretty slick.

Public Areas & Amenities

Lobby

The lobby had lots of seating to hang out and wait for the rest of your family or crew to arrive. Lots of comfortable chairs and sofas. From the lobby you also enter the dining room. As with so many boutique hotels in Germany, the reception is not staffed 24/7.

During the night, the lobby is closed, and you have to use your hotel room keycard to enter the building through a side door next to the main entrance. From here you can get to your hotel room and the parking garage.

Business Center

There was no dedicated business center for guests to use but the Hotel Moosburger Hof is mainly a conference hotel and has meeting rooms and conference spaces for rent.

Fitness Center

No fitness center.

Pool

There is no pool at Moosburger Hof

Guest Laundry

The hotel itself had no guest laundry facility.

Housekeeping

Housekeeping was offered daily, or you could opt out by just hanging the Do Not Disturb sign on your door.

Dining

The name of the on-site restaurant is MO’MA. It is located on the ground floor at the end of the lobby. This restaurant also serves breakfast for the hotel guests every day.

Unfortunately, I only had breakfast there. Their dinner menu looks so amazing as well.

Breakfast

Oh, breakfast was just so fantastic here. Everything was prepared with so much love and passion. Once you get in and pick a seat, a waitress will come over and take your order. Compared to other hotels where the eggs just sit on the buffet, here you can order your eggs how you want them, and they will be freshly made just for you. Same with coffee. Fancy a cappuccino or latte? Tell your server and you will get it.

Dining Room

The cold stuff is available at the buffet area, and it is all so delicious. Great cut meats, cheese, fresh breaks from the bakery, cereals, juices and veggies. Everything you can think of when for a good breakfast. I really enjoyed the fresh bread and rolls every morning.

Service was also outstanding and very quick. Shortly after you ordered your coffee it was served while I still had to wait a few more minutes for my delicious eggs to be ready.

Delicious scrambled eggs.

The breakfast buffet was €10.40 per person and the coffee was €4.60 per person. Juices and water were set up at the buffet. This brings the total cost of the breakfast buffet to €15/person, which is a very good price for the amount and quality of food you get.

Conclusion

It was just a lovely stay at the Hotel Moosburger Hof. I looked forward every morning to the amazing breakfast. What a joy and fantastic way to start the day. Otherwise, not much time was spent at the Hotel Moosburger Hof. The service of the whole staff was great throughout the stay. Thank you so much everyone.
