Marriott Bonvoy got a little bit more rewarding for members today, especially if you enjoy a good hot brew. The new partnership between Marriott and Starbucks will gives you a few more ways to earn points and stars. Don’t forget, that you also get extra benefits by linking your Marriott and Uber accounts.

New Partnership Benefits
Double Stars During Stays:
Members of both programs, who linked their accounts will earn Double Stars on qualifying transactions at participating Starbucks locations during their stay at Marriott Bonvoy hotels.
Marriott Bonvoy Weeks | Sip, Dream, Go:
Designated Marriott Bonvoy weeks will be announced on the official channels of Starbucks and Marriott. During the Bonvoy Week, people with linked accounts will earn 100 Marriott Bonvoy Points for making three qualifying transactions at a participating Starbucks location.
You can only earn the 100 Marriott Bonvoy Points once during the Bonvoy week. The points will be added to your Marriott Bonvoy account two business days after the Marriott Bonvoy Week ends.
The first Bonvoy Week will begin on July 8, 2024, and will run through July 14, 2024.
How to Link your Marriott Bonvoy and Starbucks accounts
The linking process is straight forward and takes only a few minutes. Go to this website and start the linking process.
First you need to log in to your Starbucks account and then you get redirected to the Marriott Bonvoy website where you need to log-in as well to finalize the linking process.
Sweepstakes
To celebrate the new partnership, Marriott is launching a sweepstakes for Bonvoy Members with linked accounts. Prices are pretty amazing with the Grand Price being a trip to visit each of the Starbucks Reserve Roasteries which are located in Seattle, Milan and Tokyo including hotel stay and airfare. Other prices include visits to one Reserve Roasteries and Bonvoy bonus points.
Eligible customers in the U.S. can enter the sweepstakes between June 18, 2024, and July 7, 2024. Official terms and conditions as well the form to enter can be found here.
Conclusion
While it sounded amazing in the first place, you don’t get much out of this promotion as it is very limited to earn bonus benefits, at least as of right now. The partnership might change, and more benefits will be added. This promotion is unlike the one with Uber for which you will earn every time you spend money with Uber, including Uber Eats.
The partnership with Starbucks only gives you double stars while you stay at a Marriott hotel. So even if you visit Starbucks daily you better stay at a Marriott Bonvoy property as well. So, your points earning is extremely limited in that case.
On the other hand, to earn bonus Bonvoy points, you have to make three purchases with Starbucks in specific weeks throughout the year. We don’t even know yet how many Marriott Bonvoy Weeks there will be. Is it one every month? One every quarter or…. Do you see the problem?
Will I sign up? Definitely, but I don’t expect many bonus points from this even by staying at a Marriott hotel for the last four weeks which has an on-property Starbucks, I never went there as the lounge offers free coffee. 😉
