Booking & Stay Details
Nothing much to say here. Booked through the Hyatt app on my smartphone a few days before my arrival. The rates in mid-November were pretty good as the main season is over. I booked the hotel only for the extended weekend. Wish I could have stayed longer but my project site was too far away and I moved to the TownePlace Suites O’Fallon and later the Garden Inn O’Fallon.
Location
The Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch sits right downtown and is the closest hotel to the Gateway Arch and riverfront. Many interesting places are within walking distance of the hotel like the Busch Stadium.
It is about a 20-minute drive from the Airport to the Hyatt Regency St Louis at the Arch.
Parking
The hotel offers valet as well as self-parking for hotel guests and visitors.
Self-Parking $36/night plus tax
Valet Parking $48/night plus tax
Self-parking is done at the hotel’s own parking garage. It is an exceptionally large garage with multiple levels but some tight turns if you have a big SUV as I did. Getting around in the garage is a bit confusing too but follow the arrows and signs.
During the summer months, the garage might run out of self-parking spaces, and you will be forced to choose valet or park at any of the nearby garages. However, these garages don’t offer any in-and-out privileges.
Shuttle Service
No shuttle service available.
Check-In
I parked outside and talked to the valet that I will be self-parking and just want to check-in really quick and unload my car.
After entering the building, you have to stay left to get to the front desk. Check in was quick and easy and I asked the agent if there was a chance for a suite upgrade with arch view for my stay. He said he had a suite but it wouldn’t have an arch view. He offered a deluxe room with an arch view. I decided to take the deluxe room as the views were more important to me, as I was just traveling by myself and would be exploring most of the time anyway. I got my room keys and started unloading my car.
Check-In: 3 p.m.
Check-Out: 12 p.m.
1 King Bed Arch View Deluxe (Room )
This room is a corner room of the hotel which has an amazing view of the arch. Because of that, it is quite a long way to take your bags from the garage or driveway to the room. During most of the day there is a bellman available to help you with luggage, but I arrived late at night, and it looks like the bellman were already gone and I prefer to handle my luggage myself.
I am glad I picked the Arch view room rather than a suite with no Arch view. The views are just amazing.
An entry way leads into the room which is very spacious. The King-sized bed sits towards the inside of the room and comes with a nightstand on either side. Either side of the bed also comes with power outlets and lights. Across from the bed is a work desk with an office chair and a cabinet which also holds a refrigerator. The TV also sits across the bed for great viewing.
Towards the outside wall facing the arch is a sofa bed. Between the bed and sofa is quite a bit of space. So for me it was more than enough space. The views are just amazing.
The entrance to the bathroom is at the beginning of the entry way. It is separated in two sections. The dressing room houses a large wall-mounted mirror, a small chair to sit in and a wash basin. There are also hangers for your clothing and the in-room safe is located here. It has a door on either side, one to the entryway of the room and the other one to the bathroom.
The bathroom itself comes with a vanity and another single wash basin on one side and the other side holds a shower/tub combo unit.
Public Areas & Amenities
Lobby
The lobby has exceptionally tall ceilings and makes a luxurious impression as you walk in. Inside the lobby you find all the on-site restaurants. Near the large windows are plenty of chairs and cocktail tables to hang out. The mezzanine level was closed off during my visit and the lobby bar was under renovation.
Gift Shop
There is also a gift shop at the hotel. You can buy all kind of St. Louis themed merch here as well as some snacks and other little things you might need. Room charge is not possible at the gift shop. I can’t understand why there are still hotels who don’t allow room charge at their gift shop.
Observation Deck/Terrace
The terrace is open to the public from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. and offers magnificient views of the Gateway Arch. Sometimes the area is closed as it is used or being set up for events like a wedding. The terrace is located on the 18th floor of the building. Once you exit the elevator follow the signs to “Gateway Terr“.
Business Center
The business center is located next to the front desk and adjacent to the concierge desk. It consists of two workstations and a printer free-standing in the lobby.
Fitness Center
The fitness center is located on the lobby level. The entrance is opposite the front desk, and past the bell desk, all the way across the lobby. You need your room key to enter, and the fitness center is open 24 hours. It comes with a pretty good selection of equipment.
Pool
No pool available at this property.
Guest Laundry
Only a dry-cleaning service is available which worked quite well and as expected.
Housekeeping
Daily housekeeping is available, but I opted out for the short time of my stay.
Dining
Regency Club
This hotel used to have a Regency Club. When I asked at the front desk, the agent told me that the club has been closed now for almost 10 years. On the other hand, there is a sign stating that the club is closed for a special event, which never happened during the time of my stay. Bottom of the line the Club is closed, and nobody was able to tell me if it will ever re-open.
Breakfast
Because renovations were going on, breakfast was served at various locations during my stay. One time at the Brewhouse Historical Sports Bar and the other days at the Red Kitchen in the lobby. Breakfast menu was the same and the food was very good. Service was great as well. Hyatt Globalists receive complimentary breakfast at the restaurant as the Regency Club is closed.
Restaurants
The Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch offers quite a few dining options. Check with the restaurants when they are open.
- Starbucks
- Ruth’s Chris Steak House
- RED Bar (was being remodeled during my stay)
- RED Kitchen
- Brewhouse Historical Sports Bar

I had dinner once at the Brewhouse and once at Ruth’s Chris. I highly recommend making a reservation at Ruth’s Chris, especially during the weekend and if there are events in town. I had to reschedule my dinner at the steakhouse by a day, as they didn’t had any space available. The food was of course great.
If you collect Starbucks Stars, make sure you save the receipt from the Starbucks in the hotel. I scanned my card a few times but never received the stars and had to contact Starbucks to receive my stars and they wanted to see proof of purchase. In my case they accepted my hotel statement as proof of purchase.
Conclusion
My stay at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis At the Arch was amazing. Again, I am so happy I picked the Arch view room over a suite, which would face away from the arch. Best would be, of course, a Arch view suite. Staff were super friendly. It is one of the best places in St. Louis to stay and I really enjoyed the proximity to Gateway Arch.
