Booking & Stay Details
I drove to Winnemucca to view the annular solar eclipse but my flight back to San Diego was out of Eugene. Changing the return location to a closer airport and even the flight itself were way more expensive than driving back to Eugene. So, I decided to head back there and booked the Even Hotel Eugene via the IHG app on my phone. First of all, I wanted to try IHG’s Even brand as I never stayed in one before and there was also a Chase offer to get a few dollars back by staying at an Even hotel.
Location
The Even Hotel Eugene is located just north of Downtown and the University of Oregon Campus. Across the Willamette River which runs through Eugene. Close to the hotel is Alton Baker Park, a huge riverfront park with lots of recreational opportunities as well as the Autzen Stadium.
Parking
The hotel offers complimentary onsite parking. A lot of the parking stalls are covered as there are some parking spots underneath the building.
Check-In
As you walk into the building from the parking lot, you have to turn to your right and take the elevator or stairs up to the second floor where the lobby is located.

Check-in was quick and easy as always. I got greeted as a loyal member and had a few choices for my welcome amenity including points and complimentary breakfast. I decided to go with the breakfast as it was mentioned on the website to be $39 per person per night.

The agent also upgraded me to a suite and asked if I minded if it was an accessible suite which had a roll-in shower, additional shower wand and the fold down chair in the shower. I didn’t mind at all, as I would be staying one night only. I arrived past 8 p.m. so I had not much time left anyway in the suite as I would leave just before noon the next day to head to the airport.
Check-In: 3 p.m.
Check-Out: 11 a.m.
Even Suite 1 King (Room 420)
As you walk into the suite you have the living room space right in front of you. It comes with a stationary bike and other workout equipment like a yoga mat. Next to the entrance is a little kitchenette space. It has a sink but all the cupboards are empty and no utensils or dishes are provided. There is a coffee maker on top of the counter.
The rest of the living area features a TV and a sofa bed, as well as a work desk. The work desk is rather small for such a large room. A window is located opposite the entrance door of the room.
A door leads into the bedroom. Inside is a King bed, with nightstands on either side. Opposite the bed is another TV on top of a closet. The TV in my room didnt work. Every time I turned it on, it turned itself off again. Behind the door is a small wall closet.
A great feature of this room is that it comes with a nice balcony which is accessible through the bedroom. The view is nothing special, you can see part of the nearby stadium. The balcony is actually quite spacious and comes with two chairs.
Another very spacious room in this suite is the bathroom. It is a very big bathroom. The vanity comes with two wash basins and a separate mirror above each wash basin. The bathroom can be entered via a door in the bedroom and living room.
The shower is a handicap accessible shower, which lets you roll into the shower with your wheelchair. It has a fold-up chair as well as a shower wand. A curtain stops water from splashing all over the place. There is a lot of space in the bathroom which goes unused. For me the bathroom is way too big.
Public Areas & Amenities
Lobby
The lobby space mainly consists of the dining area for the restaurant. There are a few cozy chairs next to the front desk to sit down and relax. But other than that, there is not much to explore in the lobby.

Business Center
The business center is located next to the restaurant space. It comes with two workstations and a printer. Simple but sleek.
Fitness Center & Game Room
The fitness center is located on the second floor, next to the stairwell going down. Inside the fitness center, for which you need your room key to enter, you find lots of workout equipment.
Next to the fitness center is a game room which has a ping-pong table set up. Talking about games, there were board games stashed in the shelf area next to the front desk. All of them are free to use.
Pool
The Even Hotel Eugene features an indoor pool. The pool is located on the ground floor next to the elevators. You can’t miss it. You need your room key to enter and inside you find, besides the pool, also a whirlpool. I got there early in the morning after the official opening hours but the lights were still off. I also didn’t find a switch to turn them on myself.
Guest Laundry
The Even Hotel Eugene has an on-site guest laundry facility for guests to use.
Housekeeping
Housekeeping was provided but since I staid only one night, there would be no option to make use of that service.
Dining
Breakfast
Breakfast is served at Cork & Kale Market and Bar in the lobby. The menu is decent as well as the prices. Coffee is self-serve at the counter. You have unlimited refills as long as you dine in the restaurant. My meal was complimentary as I selected free breakfast as my welcome amenity.
Cork & Kale Market and Bar
The restaurant focuses on healthy choices for all their meals. It is open for dinner only. Their menu is available online. There is also an outdoor seating area with a fireplace next to the restaurant called Even Garden. Perfect for an evening drink with friends.
Conclusion
The Even Hotel Eugene is a very nice and clean hotel. I like the layout of the hotel and all the amenities it offers. It is a great place to stay and if you are here for a sporting event at the stadium, this is a good place. You can walk there in a few minutes from this location. Overall, it was a great stay and the staff was very helpful the whole time.
The gift shop next to the front desk sells athletic wear from the local sports teams as well as other souvenirs about Eugene and Oregon.
