Watch “First Man” Movie for Free during the Summer of Space in Cape Canaveral

This year marks the 50th anniversary of mankind landing on the moon. It was the Apollo 11 mission which launched from Cape Canaveral on July 16, 1969, and landed the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle on the surface of our neighbor on July 20, 1969. The whole world was watching when the first man stepped on the lunar surface. This famous man was Neil Armstrong and we all probably have heard his famous words while taking the first step on the surface of the moon.

That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

Neil Armstrong was accompanied by Buzz Aldrin which was the second man on the moon after Neil. Their surface EVA (ExtraVehicular Activity) had a duration of 2 hours, 31 minutes 40 seconds.

The space race started in a rather unknown part of the United States when John F. Kennedy announced that the United States will send the first man to the moon. This unknown place was Cape Canaveral. Today we all know about Cape Canaveral and John F. Kennedy Space Center. It’s America’s prime spaceport.

Besides being a spaceport the Port Canaveral is famous for being one of the nations busiest cruise ports.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, which made the city famous and well known all over the world, Cape Canaveral is celebrating this achievement with the “Summer of Space”.

On October 1, 2018, I was able to watch the pre-screening of the movie about 1,5 weeks before it would launch in theatres across the nation. This day was the 60th birthday of NASA and therefore this pre-screenings of the movie were held all across the nation. I was lucky enough to find an open seat just a few days before the actual event.
