On most travel blogs and websites Wyndham is one of the lesser discussed hotel loyalty programs. Why? Mostly because of their “budget” hotels. It’s not bad to save money, but in some cases the hotel itself tries to save money too in being cheap and not very welcoming. I had some experience of that myself.
But Wyndham doesn’t only have low-end properties, they also have some properties with great values. For example they have some great properties in New York and Miami. I still have an upcoming visit to a Wyndham hotel in New York scheduled and I am very excited about it.
Yesterday I received an email from Wyndham Rewards, that they are upgrading their rewards program. First thought was devaluation, but no! They are actually upping the game.
Last year Wyndham introduced a flat-rate redemption rate for all properties. For only 15.000 points you can stay at any Wyndham property with no blackout dates. Wyndham calls this “Go Free” award. They also offer a points and cash award, which is called “Go Fast”.
Next week there are more positive changes coming. Starting May 18, 2016, Wyndham will introduce new member levels. There will be now 4 membership levels: Blue, Gold, Platinum and Diamond.
Obviously Diamond gets the most of all, but even Gold gets some great benefits and that only after 5 nights.
Some of my favorite perks are that Rollover Nights never expire (for all levels) and that you get a Suite upgrade even on an award booking (Diamond Level only and depends on availability).
Wyndham also made changes to their Go Free and Go Fast award redemptions. There is now a Go Free PLUS and Go Fast PLUS award redemption. The “PLUS” makes it worth to redeeming your points rather than paying for your stay.
If you book a stay in one of their 25 most sought-after destinations, you’ll receive a discount on an unforgettable local experience. The experiences range from famous attractions and food tours over to art museums and theme parks.
The best thing is that the discount is bigger if you use only points (Go Free) for your stay. To get the plus you have to choose one of the following cities:
- Atlanta
- Beijing
- Berlin
- Boston
- Branson
- Charleston
- Chicago
- Dallas
- Dubai
- Hong Kong
- Istanbul
- London
- Mexico City
- Montreal
- Nashville
- New Orleans
- New York
- Niagra Falls
- Orlando
- Pigeon Forge
- San Antonio
- Shanghai
- Singapore
- Southern California
- Vancouver
The above discounts are available on arrivals after July 11, 2016.
And again it’s most rewarding as a Diamond Member. More info about go free PLUS, go fast PLUS and participating hotels visit Wyndham’s homepage.
Honestly this are pretty exciting news. I also checked my Wyndham Rewards status and got already transferred into the new membership levels. Now I have to find a place and especially time to use this perks.
What do you guys think about Wyndham? Have you stayed at one of their properties yet?
