Are you getting a ton of sales calls and other unwanted calls? Stop them by registering your phone numbers with the National Do Not Call Registry. The Do Not Call Registry is run by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). I get a ton of calls every day with sales pitches and other unwanted stuff.

Register your phone number with the DNC-Registry
Signing up for the Do Not Call Registry is very easy. Visit this link to enter your phone number and email address. The email address is used to send you a link that you have to click to confirm your registration. It will take up to 31-days after your registration until your number gets removed from all companies following the official rules. Companies are required by law to update their phone database at least every 31 days.
Some calls are still allowed, these include
- political calls
- charitable calls
- debt collection calls
- purely informational calls
- surveys
Report unwanted calls
Be aware, that this won’t stop scammers and other fraudulent persons who don’t care about the Do Not Call Registry. If this happens to you, you can report the phone number to the FTC and they will investigate and impose fines on the caller if they broke the law. To report an unwanted call, you need to fill out a short form and submit it. It takes not even a minute.

What about Robocalls
Robocalls, calls that play a recorded message, trying to sell you something are illegal unless you have given a company written permission to call you that way.
So if you get a robocall from a company to which you haven’t given written permission to call you, it is probably a scam. If this happens, don’t press any buttons or speak to a person. Hang up and report the call to the FTC.

Conclusion
Remember, this will only stop law-abiding companies. You might still be getting robocalls and scam calls. Remember, never reply to any of these calls, press any buttons, or talk to a person. Hang up and report them.
Additionally, you can block numbers from such fraudulent calls within your cell phone. Most newer cell phones have the option to block numbers. Some phone manufacturers (Samsung and Google devices) or network providers (Verizon, AT&T) offer similar services which will warn you if an incoming call is a scam or fraudulent.
Additionally, there are apps that are mostly subscription-based and offer such a service. For example, the Norton Security App offers such a service but it is subscription-based. Besides the security app for your phone, you also get a virus scanner and firewall for your PC. Norton is just an example of offering such a service and one I have personal experience with.
