At the beginning of 2019, Uber introduced its rewards program. The rewards program allowed you to earn points which you could redeem for stuff on uber or gift cards and you earned status with Uber which gave you additional benefits. If you want to know all the details, you can find it in this post here.

Now, about 3.5 years later, Uber is shutting down its rewards program. According to the email Uber sent out, they want to focus more on their paid membership program Uber One.

You will still be able to use all your benefits and earn points until August 31, 2022. After that you have until October 31, 2022 to redeem all your points before you will lose them.

I was using Uber and Uber Eats a lot, but I think I am missing many points from my rides and purchases even though I used both of the services a lot. It’s even harder as there is no real activity history you can check.

Just like everything else in this world, Uber is moving to a subscription model. It’s not enough anymore to use their service regularly where they make a ton of money and pay the drivers less and less. Now you have to pay for that.

I mainly use Uber now to use the credits I get every months from my American Express Platinum Card. I had much better experience with one of my first Lyft rides anyway. When there was no Uber driver even available.

But that’s just my 2 cents. Be aware that the rewards program ends soon. You should have gotten an email about that from Uber anyway.
